2017年8月17日至20日，禅修茶道初级增益班走进工夫茶之乡——潮州！一起体验潮州古老文化。潮州是一个与大文豪韩愈息息相关的文化重镇。
On Aug. 17th to 20th, entry level Chan Tea class will be held in Chaozhou (aka Teochew) - the hometown of Gongfu tea. Let’s experience the ancient Chaozhou culture together.  Han Yu is well known as a great Chinese writer and poet. He is one of the Eight Masters of the Tang and Song.  His life was inextricably bound up with the history of this greatest cultural town.
    潮州文化已有二千二百多年的历史，是一种中国汉族民系文化，是吸取古代南粤土著文化、中原文化、海外文化中的优秀部分，不断融合和发展而成的，为海内外全体潮州人所共有，其涵盖范围甚广，主要包含：潮州功夫茶、潮州方言、潮剧、潮州音乐、潮州工艺、潮州木雕、潮绣、潮州大锣鼓等。
Chaozhou culture has a history over two thousand and two hundred years. It is one of the branches of Han Chinese.  It has been developed by merging and absorbing the essences of ancient Nanyue culture, Zhongyuan culture, and foreign culture. The culture is shared by all Chaozhou people all over the world. This prestigious culture manifests its unique characteristics in Gongfu tea, language, opera, music, cuisine, craft, wood carving, embroidery, and percussion.
    这次在潮州凤凰山举办的禅修茶道初级讲习班、初级增益班，不仅学习禅修茶道的课程，而且还会参学潮州手拉壶、品尝众多香型的凤凰单枞茶、感受古城牌坊街浓郁的历史人文。
The Chan Tea class which will be held in Phoenix Mountain not only offer the learning of Chan Tea, but also the learning of Chaozhou NRK pot and Feng Huang Dan Cong oolong tea. Students will also experience the rich historical culture of Paifang Street (Memorial Arch Street).

    行走在凤凰山乌岽石阶，亲眼目睹烟雾氤氲、柔风细雨；亲自感受山野芬芳、生机勃勃；品一品这座山，品一品这眼泉，才知道什么是一方水土养一方茶。
Strolling on stone stairs of misty Wu Dong Mountain, feel the breeze and drizzle. Sense the vividness and freshness of the mountain. Taste the spring and feel the mountain by your heart, then you will understand why the unique features of a local environment always give special characteristics to its inhabitants.
    踏上广济桥，学习古人在千年前当时的条件下，做到行船过人两不误的智慧。
Stepping on Guangji Bridge, learn the wisdom of our ancestors to accommodate the traffic of pedestrians and boats simultaneously on the river in ancient time.  
    望着韩江涛涛江水，赞叹大文豪韩愈驱鳄兴学的恩泽。同时，领略儒释道三家文化在潮州的融合与兴盛。
Looking at the torrential water of Han River, praise Master Han Yu’s accomplishments: drove crocodiles away and promoted education.  Infused with Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism, Chaozhou culture is flourishing.

    走进一家茶馆，寻一把竹椅，坐下来，静静地，榄碳煮水、白羽扇风，来一杯凤凰单枞，胸头不快，顿时消散。
Enter a teahouse, sit down on a bamboo chair, boil water with olive-shape charcoal quietly, cool yourself down with handheld white feather fan, and take a sip of Feng Huang Dan Cong oolong tea. All worries disappear.

Chaozhou, an ancient city. It carries over a thousand years old prestigious culture. It is a city of museums.

潮州功夫茶
Chaozhou Gongfu Tea

    潮州工夫茶，是一种民俗，是“潮人习尚风雅，举措高超”的象征。工夫茶起源于宋代，在广东的潮州府（今潮汕地区）及福建的漳州、泉州一带最为盛行，乃唐、宋以来品茶艺术的承袭和深入发展。苏辙有诗曰：“闽中茶品天下高，倾身事茶不知劳。”
Chaozhou Gongfu Tea is one of folk cultures in Chaozhou. It represents that Chaozhou people are civilized and living graceful life. Originated in Guangzhou during Song Dynasty,  Gongfu Tea was very popular in Chaoshan area of Guangzhou, as well as Zhangzhou and Quanzhou of Fujian. Inheriting the tea culture from Tang and Song Dynasties, Chaozhou Gongfu tea evolved into a unique characteristic of Chaozhou culture.  Master Su Zhe says:  One could find the finest tea in Fujian, since people try their best to make good tea no matter who laborious it is.

    那何谓“工夫”呢？一般有四解：工程和劳力；素养；造诣，成就的程度；空闲时间。“功夫”与烹茶方法联袂， 称“工夫茶”。
What does Gongfu mean?  It means: labor, knowledge, attainments and spear time. Gongfu, together with tea brewing techniques are called Gongfu tea.

    潮州功夫茶，用的当然是潮州凤凰山的单丛，凤凰山的乌岽，海拔1325米，常年云雾氤氲，雨水充沛，日照云雾产生漫反射，气温清凉怡人，是潮州单丛最优质的产区。
The tea used in Chaozhou Gongfu tea is, of course, the Feng Huang Dan Cong oolong tea.  It is grown in Wu Dong mountain which is 1325 meters. This misty mountain has mild and humid climate with plenty of rain.  It is the best place to grow this kind of tea.

    乌岽山顶是凤凰天池，素有南国第一天池美誉。日出、云海、青山、蓝天格外美丽。
The Phoenix Tianchi locates on the top of Wu Dong Mountian. It is known as the most beautiful lake in South China. The views of sunset, the sea of clouds, the mountain and the blue sky are extraordinary and spectacular here.

Chaozhou Paifang(Memorial Arch)

潮音：潮州话，是古汉语，潮州话有自己的潮州话字典。
Chaoyin: Chaozhou dialect, is an ancient Chinese language. It has its own dictionary。

潮剧：潮州戏曲，用潮州话演唱的古老传统戏种。
Chaoju: Chaozhou opera, is a traditional opera which performed in Chaozhou dialect

潮味：潮州小吃，蒸煎烤炸，花样丰富，色香味俱全。
Chaowei: Chaozhou snack:  Food cooked in different ways.  (steam, fry, bake and deep fly). Smell good and very tasty.

潮水：韩江，以韩愈姓氏取名。韩愈驱赶鳄鱼的故事就发生在这里。
Chaoshui: Han River, named after Han Yu. The story of Han Yu drove crocodiles away happened here.

潮风：牌坊街，潮州因韩愈的到来，重视人文教育。潮州古牌坊街一幢幢牌坊的背后都是历史人文的积淀。开元寺、广济桥、老爷庙……都集中在这个区域。
Chaofeng: Paifang Street (Memorial Arch Street). Because of Han Yu, the whole area started to promoted education. Every Paifang carries its own history. Kaiyuan Monastery, Guanji Bridge, Laoye Temple all locate here.

    潮州古城始建于西汉初年，历经多少年代，当地人至今仍悠然自得地生活在这座古城中。漫步在潮州古城，有时很难分清历史和现在，耸立着牌坊的街道上人流穿行不息，古色古香的民居里，生活着悠然自得的居民；在下一个转角，又踏进了各类博物馆，跌进潮州二千多年历史的故事里。
This ancient city was built at the beginning of Han Dynasty. So many years passed and people are still enjoying their life here. Walking on the street, it is hard to distinguish if we live in the past or present. The crowds in Paifang Street, the residents in ancient buildings. At the next corner, you might step in all kinds of museums, step in the two thousand years old stories.

禅修茶道广东潮州初级讲习班

一、时间：8月17日至19日（8月16日全天报到，8月19日下午16:３0结束；8月20日游览潮州牌坊街、广济桥等）
Time: Aug 17th - Aug 19th (Sign in: Aug.16th.  Class will end at 14:30 of Aug.19th; Visit Chaozhou Paifang street, Guangji Bridge, etc. on Aug 20th.)

１．新学员A： (New student, plan A)

1人报名：3398元（包括茶具、竹桌、汉服、、禅垫、腿套等全套禅茶物资；含行政费）物资归属个人，课程结束后带走物资。今后参加后续禅修茶道课程，每次只需缴纳480元行政费。( 中级讲习班和高级讲习班除外）
Register for one person: RMB 3398 (including: tea sets and tools, tea table, Hanfu (Han Chinese clothing), meditation cushion, leg cover; administrative expense)
All items above belong to students and need to be taken by them after the completion of the course. For Plan A students, sign up for additional classes in future will only be charge for an administrative expense of RMB 480 per class (This does not apply to medium or senior level class).

2人同行：3398元／人，奖励后期课程一个名额含行政费480元。( 中级讲习班和高级讲习班除外)
Register for two persons: RMB 3398/person. Bonus: sign up for one additional class for one person, free of charge. (This does not apply to medium or senior level class)

2.新学员B：1800元（借用全套物资；含行政费）不购置物品，课程结束后归还全套借用物资。今后参加后续禅修茶道课程，费用需每次交纳1800元。

退费制度：（名额可转让）
Withdraw: ( The registration is transferable)

  如果报名后因故不能参加，请开班一周前告知；如果不再参加学习，需要扣除300元前期物资准备费用，敬请理解。
Please give at least one-week advanced notice if you could not make it.  You could choose to transfer the registration to someone else or withdraw. If you chose to withdraw, the fee is RMB 300 to cover the preparation expense:  e.g. shipping cost, etc.  and we will return you the rest.

  现场B套餐可转A套餐，课程结束后不再接受转套餐。
The students could transfer from Plan B to Plan A before the completion of the whole 3-day class.

To register, you have to use your legal name. Previous students could attend all activities (group practice, outdoor activities, performance, etc.) held by Chan Tea local office in each city. They also could attend other available Chan Tea classes depending on their previous learning. （ advanced level, three-day Chan, median level and senior level class). Please register in advance. 三、课程：

    冲茶旨在禅法，工夫为明自性。禅宗临济宗第四十六代传人山东省博山正觉寺方丈仁炟法师，传承禅宗参禅悟道的修心方法，以丛林茶礼为基础，参考《禅林备用清规》、《百丈清规》，发掘、整理而成“禅修茶道”。为配合“禅修茶道”的教学和宏扬，仁炟法师特别写了十二首禅修茶诗和《禅修茶道百句三字经》，诠释“禅修茶道”的十二道工序、每道工序的心法与修持要领，以及禅茶文化的传承与内涵。
Comprehend the essence of Chan through tea making, practice Chan Tea to find your true self. The Abbot of the Boshan Zhengjue Monastery, Ven. Master Renda is the 46th generation successor of Linji Faction, Chan Sect.  Inherited the cultivation method of Chan Sect. and the culture of Chan and Tea, followed the pure Rules of Beiyong and the Pure Rules of Baizhang, he explored and compiled the unique method of “Chan and Tea”. To facilitate the propagating of Chan Tea, he composed twelve Chan Tea poems and Three-Character Canon of Chan Tea. They elaborate the cultivation method and key point of each step as well as introduce the traditional culture of Chan and Tea.

  我们会给学员配置完整的一套茶具、竹桌、汉服、禅垫、腿套。三天的初级讲习班课程里面，将详细讲解禅修茶道修法心要、行禅要领、禅修茶道十二道工序的禅茶内涵，动作与音律配合，同时实践品茶品心。
Each student will receive a full set of tools for Tea ceremony, a tea table, Hanfu (Han Chinese clothing), meditation cushion and leg cover. During the three-day class, we will lecture on the mind cultivation of Chan Tea, walking meditation, twelve steps of Chan Tea, movements according to music as well as taste tea and mind.

    禅修茶道有完整的次第进阶课程。我们有初级讲习班、初级增益班、初级三日禅、中级班、高级班。本次举办的是初级讲习班，初级讲习班所配的茶具、竹桌、汉服、禅垫、腿套，学员将会持续使用到高级班。
Chan Tea classes consist of a series of step-by-step classes and have to be learned by following order: entry level, advanced level, three-day Chan, medium level, and senior level class.  This announcement is about the entry level class in Chaozhou. All items purchased in entry level class will be used in all other classes.
